The enemy

Have you ever had someone in your life that has done you wrong?Seeing them makes you cringe? Hearing them talk is like scraping your fingernails on a chalkboard? Yeah me too! Have you ever thought about how they feel about you? Nope, me either. Didn’t care. I was just fine having bad thoughts about them. Until I came to know Jesus that is. He has a different way of looking at things and he wants us to be conformed to his way of thinking. He forgives completely and loves his worst enemy even as he is being mistreated! I know this because I’m one who was once his enemy. I’ve committed atrocities against him. Before I was ever sorry for any of them he gave his life for me. He gave his life for that person who makes me cringe too! And he loves them too! In Luke 6 starting at verse 27 Jesus tells us how to act towards our enemies. If we were to read these verses it pretty much tells us to do the opposite of what is in our nature to do. Love them is the long and the short of it. Anyone can love someone who loves them back but who can love an enemy? Jesus can and with his help so can we. Will you join me in loving our enemies and praying for them? Dear God we all have people we struggle with. Help us to love them. Help them to see you in our kindness towards them so that they can share in your forgiveness along with us!
