We’ve all been there. That place that you get to when you’ve made a bad decision and now your not sure how to get out of the pickle your in. I know I have and I still do from time to time. Maybe it’s a bad business decision or a poor financial move. Maybe a relationship situation that could have been handled better. The prophet Jonah, found himself in a bad spot, actually the worst kind of spot, because of his disobedience to God. He was supposed to talk to some people for God about their poor choices so that they would repent, but he didn’t like them so he didn’t want to go. He found himself hurled from a boat into the sea to his death. That’s kinda bad wouldn’t you say? He cried out to the Lord for help as the waters surrounded him and God had a big fish come and rescue him. Now when I say rescue I mean the fish swallowed him! Yep. True story. From inside the fish Jonah thanked and praised God for saving him! The fish spit him out after three days and Jonah then did as God had asked in the first place. My favorite part of the account of Jonah is that when he thought he was going to die in the sea and couldn’t see any way out, he called out to God and God answered him. We don’t always know how God will deliver us from the predicaments we get ourselves in to but he has unlimited resources and is waiting for us to call out to him. Even better is that when we confess our sins and repent he is quick to forgive!! Dear God, thank you for always being ready to hear from us in our distress. Thank you for your deliverance and forgiveness.
