Training. It’s part of our lives from early on. Potty training, training to crawl, training to walk, training to drive, training for a career, training for sports, and on and on it goes. Training isn’t always the fun part but necessary if we wish to be able to do what we desire to do. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I shot my rifle as a kid. Thousands of rounds I’m sure because I wanted to be good at it. So if training works in all theses areas of life then I am to assume it works for our life in Christ as well. If we are living a life saved by the grace of God in Christ’s death and resurrection then the number one thing we should want is to tell others. Now that will entail all kinds of road blocks. Like questions. People ask questions. It’s what we do. That’s okay. But what if we are not prepared? What if if we are not living our own lives in such a way that others can tell a difference? 1 Corinthians 9:25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
We are not just going through life to die in vain!! Our lives have a purpose. That purpose is to bring glory to God. How can that happen if we are just doing the bare minimum we need to to get by? No! We must train! How else can we be productive citizens of the kingdom of God? How do we train? Study the Bible and put what we learn into practice. Pray constantly. Have fellowship with other believers and help each other along the way. Train!! Dear God, thank you again as we often do for your word that trains us to live upright and holy lives! May our lives lead others to you!!
Run to win a crown that lasts forever!!
