Truly free

Freedom. We all want it. But what is it? What are the requirements to have it? Some would say that freedom is doing whatever we want, whenever we want. Are we truly free when we do that? What if what we want is harmful to ourselves and even addictive? Do we not then become a slave to what we want? We are all sinners from birth. Enslaved by this sinful nature with no way to be freed from it, Christ in his mercy came and gave his life so that we could be forgiven. Then he took his life back giving us the hope of being resurrected also. If we accept this truth and follow him it is then and only then that we are truly free. Well then, some might say that following Christ comes with a bunch of rules. My response to that is this: out of appreciation for what God has done for me I gladly try to do those things that the Bible teaches. But if I fail from time to time I am forgiven. No punishment! Free!! Now some may tell you different. Paul dealt with this in his letter to the Galatians. In Galatians 2 he deals with some folks that were trying to say that you must be circumcised to be saved. That was man adding their own rules to salvation. Slavery. Not freedom. Trusting in Christ as your only way to be saved is the only way to be saved. Following rules does not or cannot save you! Doing what God wishes for us is for our good and is done only out of love for him!! Thank you Jesus for giving us freedom from our sin and punishment that we deserve!!
Enjoy your freedom in Christ today!!
