A guarantee you can trust!!

We were going on a camping vacation recently and one of the activities we planned was renting a boat and going on the lake for a day. We had to book the boat ahead in order to ensure that we could get it because they book up fast. One of the requirements to rent one is putting down a deposit ahead of time as a guarantee that you will actually show up and use the boat. No deposit, no boat. They won’t just take your word for it that you’ll show up. Unlike us, when God says he’ll do something, he will do it. He doesn’t need to give us any kind of guarantee because his word is good enough. However, he knows us. So when he provided a way to be saved through his Son Jesus, he also included with it a guarantee. A deposit. In Ephesians 1:13-14 it tells us that when we believe, we are marked with a seal, the Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession to the praise of his glory.
God does not leave out any details in his work. As if sending his only son here to die a horrible death that we deserve but he didn’t wasn’t enough, he also then would send his very Spirit to live in us. This Holy Spirit helps us battle against sin, understand God’s word, and apply his word to our lives. He gives us comfort in our struggles and helps us comfort others. He is our companionship with Jesus here on earth until his return when we will be with him face to face. Unlike a human deposit that is a small percentage of the value, God gives a deposit of full value. He gave all of himself. The Holy Spirit is no less God than the Father or Jesus. They are God and if you believe then he is already with you and nothing can take you from his hand!! What a privilege it is to be God’s child!! Thank you Father for your Son and for your Holy Spirit and the security we have in you!!
