Less me more thee

My wife and I were asked one time to teach a Sunday morning class to teens. We had a young child at the time and there was just no way that we could both do it. But me being me, I wanted to teach it. So, without my wife, I took it on. It was a disaster. After some painful realization I came to understand that I wasn’t doing it for the Lord or the kids. I wanted to do it. It was all about me. Why do we make everything all about ourselves? It’s one of the tricks that the evil one plays on us. If we are so wrapped up in ourselves then we cannot be effective for the gospel. Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking after your own interests but each of you to the interests of others.
I learned the hard way, more than once, that God takes care of all our needs, we don’t have to be always looking out for ourselves. We need to look out for others. Often, if we are helping others it ends up good for us too! God calls us not to be selfish but selfless. And Christ gave us this example by going to the cross. He went for us and by doing that he gained a family. Us!! I need to improve in thinking more of others and less of me. Will you join me? Dear God, help us to put you first, others second, and ourselves last!!
Love y’all
