Secret helpers

A very prominent woman who was very wealthy used some of her resources to help people during times of crisis. She sent truckloads of supplies to places that hurricanes had hit and things like that. She received much praise for it and I will not diminish her help in the least. She then aired a program on television showing the world all that she had done to help people. Matthew 6:2-4 Jesus says: So when you give to the needy do not announce it with trumpets as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. But when you give to the needy don’t let your right hand know what the left hand is doing so that your giving may be done in secret. Then your Father who sees what is done in secret may reward you.
If we give and then tell others then we have done it for ourselves. Been guilty of that before!! Not proud of it at all!! But if we give in secret it is to glorify God and to truly help someone in need. God will remember it and reward you in heaven. It’s a heart thing. Is our heart for Jesus or for ourselves?? Dear Lord, it’s so easy for us to want recognition for what we do but help us to remember that if we are able to help someone, it is only because you have blessed us with the means and talents to do it. Help us not to brag but to give you the glory!!
