Those who follow Jesus in most parts of the world are living in grave danger. Many are tortured and killed for their faith every day across the globe. Believers here in America have been safe for many years but that might not always be the case. So when so many die for their faith in Christ, how then can we explain Bible verses like 1John 5:18 which says: We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe and the evil one cannot harm them.
So we know that many believers have been harmed and even killed. So what does this mean? God is an eternal being. He has always been and will always be. So he thinks eternally and not just here and now. The evil one, or Satan, wants us to parish. Eternally. He doesn’t just want to hurt us here, although he does do that, but his goal is to bring eternal harm to us. When Jesus died for us and then rose again he assured a place for us in eternity that will not harm us but will be free of pain and suffering. In that way he provided for us an eternal protection. Yes we can be harmed or even killed for our faith but only in the physical body but our souls cannot be harmed if we believe and follow Jesus. Our life here is temporary but we are, once we are born, eternal. This part of our life is nothing more than a breathe compared to eternity. Jesus, thank you for keeping our souls in your hands and insuring that our pain is only here if only we believe and trust in you!!!
Have you put your faith in Jesus? Today would be a good time to start!
