Seek him first

When I take a hard look inside myself it’s not a pretty sight. I have spent most of my years making this life about me. Now the world would say that’s good. But is it really? Is it okay for us to spend our short lives doing whatever it takes to gratify our own desires? We work to either buy that must have thing that we “need” or we hoard away food or toilet paper or whatever it is. We try our best to save up to retire. How much thought during the day each day do we give to eternal things? How often do we concern ourselves with our friends and neighbors who may never have heard about Jesus? What about our children? Do we really know what they are being told at school? I’m not saying we shouldn’t work. I think we absolutely should. But i know myself that it’s easy to slip into my own concerns and neglect a lot of other things much more important than myself. In Matthew 6:33 Jesus is teaching about this very thing. He reminds us of how he provides us with our basic needs. But what does he say about our focus? He says”But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Are we seeking God’s kingdom in our lives first? Can we add anything to our lives by worrying about tomorrow? We can’t even know for sure if tomorrow will come!! That’s why it’s so important to seek God’s will instead of our own!! Tomorrow may not come but eternity will. Thank you Lord for sending your Son for us. Help us to seek to live for him instead of ourselves!
Make it a point to live on someone today!!
