The news today is full of stories about horrible acts being done from one human to another. Almost every day you could read or hear about a murder or child abuse. There is sex trafficking, drugs, mass killings and all kinds of violence. The church is not without its issues. We hear of those in the church molesting children and extorting money. We ask ourselves why? How can another human being do these things to another human being. 1 Corinthians 2:14 tells us this: The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolish, and cannot accept them because they are only discerned through the Spirit.
We often forget that not everyone has the Spirit of God living in them. If a person does not accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and give their lives to him then the Holy Spirit does not live in them. Then they are not guided by him in their hearts to do what is right or to keep from doing wrong. As time goes on, and the more evil they do, the less remorse they feel about it and over time their hearts become hardened. Then whatever seems right to them ,even though it is evil , they do without thought or conscious. As believers we often forget the importance of the third part of the trinity of God, the Holy Spirit. He is God and he lives in those who believe serving as a guide to do what is right before God and keeping us from evil! We all teeter on the ledge between right and wrong and should thank God daily that he helps us escape from doing evil and we should always give him credit for whatever good we do. Dear Father, I thank you that you rescued me and so many others from the evil that dwells within us. Thank you for your forgiveness and the second chances!!
Love y’all
