It is good to be here

I am a daydreamer. It’s true. I admit it. Sometimes that’s not all bad. Have you ever asked someone what they are thinking about and they said “nothing”. I can’t think of a single time in my life when I was awake that my mind was not working. I like to dream of what heaven and the new earth will be like. We don’t really know but we know it’ll be good. It used to worry me that I might get bored. Jesus gave three men a glimpse of what being in his presence in heaven will be like. In Matthew 17 the first few verses tell us that he took Peter, James, and John up a high mountain. There Jesus was transfigured into his glorified body like he will be in heaven and he was accompanied by Moses and Elijah. The verse that really grabbed me was verse four. Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here.
There Peter was on a mountain. No luxuries of any kind. He had been with Jesus for awhile up to this point. So why was he saying it was good to be here? Jesus revealed his true glory to those men. Jesus in his gloried state is enough. Enough for us to be good wherever we are. Being with him will be the very climax of our lives and it will be the very best part of heaven. Colossians 3:2 tells us to keep our minds son things above and not on things of earth. If we are going to daydream, I think dreaming of Jesus and setting our minds on the things that he wants for us is the best daydream we can have. Often I dream of the next best thing I can gain here on earth only to get bored with that once I get it, but being with Jesus will not disappoint! He is with us now in our heart but one day we will see him in all his glory and we will join Peter and say “ it is good for us to be here!!” Thank you Jesus for coming here and giving your life for ours! We look forward in our thoughts to being with you in person. Help us to strive to be like you here on earth!!
