Are you a hawk or a chicken?

When I was a kid I went with my Dad on saturdays to do whatever the day might bring. Most of my friends watched cartoons. Now and then when it rained I would too. One of my favorites was foghorn leghorn. There seemed to always be an argument about who was a hawk and who was a chicken. Leghorn was always quick to point out that dogs don’t look like chickens and hawks can’t be no chicken. It was good for a laugh. It’s true though. A dog can’t ge a chicken and neither can a hawk. Some of us get confused at times too. Like Christians. I am a Christian. I follow Christ and have trusted him to save me. But sometimes I wonder why he doesn’t use me in a mighty way like those great men and women in the Bible. I read this morning Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Gods will is-his good pleasing and perfect will.
If we profess to be followers of Jesus but we live like the devil then how can we expect God to use us for his glory? We must change our thinking from the old way of life we once lived and start living life according to the way Jesus lived his life. We find that in his word, the Bible. We should read it daily! And not just read it but do what it says! (James1:22)How can we be hawks when we look like chickens? God will only use us when we are seeking his will and not our own. Thank you Lord for giving us these reminders from your word so that we can be a people living in your will to bring you the glory you do richly deserve!
