Be hated but don’t hate

Christians who truly follow Christ and live by his word are among the most hated people on earth. Funny. If we are living like we should we would be the first to feed you when your hungry. The first to clothe you if you had nothing to wear. The one to bandage your wounds even if your our enemy. We are taught to love those who hate us. We are taught to do good and not evil. So why are we hated? Well Jesus himself was hated. He healed people everywhere he went. He promised to forgive them and give them a place in eternity if only they would believe in him. So why are we surprised when we are hated? He lives in us! If they hated him then yes they will hate us! We live in a world that calls sin and shameful things good and calls good evil. You know what? I’m not surprised. What bothers me is when we live our lives so much like them that it’s hard to tell the difference! Those who call us haters will never know the love of Christ if we hate them back! If we retaliate eveytime we are spoken against then how are we any better? How is that showing them Jesus? Did he do that when they spit on him? Beat him? Insulted him? Hung him on a cross? What did he say on the cross to his Father? Send them all to hell!!!? No. He said this: Father forgive them for they know not what they do. That is the attitude we are to have! And yes even when we are hated. Especially when we are hated!! Remember this; before we knew him we hated him too! Thank you Lord for forgiving us. Thank you for your sacrifice and not only that but showing us how we should live among those who despise us.
