I know I’m not the only one who doesn’t like the direction that our nation is going. I do my fair share of complaining about those in power. So far I haven’t seen any results in any of my complaints!! So if complaining doesn’t work then what do we do? Is it just me or does anyone else feel powerless to affect change? Well, I have good news. This morning I was reading the Bible and like always, I found an answer. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
We pray for those who are sick and for our friends and family and even for ourselves but how often do we pray for those in our government? How many of us take the time to learn the names of those in power and then pray for them? I know I don’t but I should. We all should. Don’t you think that if all of us as believers took the time to learn their names and pray for them that God would respond? I know he would! We should even pray or especially pray for those in our local governments. And school boards. We really can affect how things are going in our nation but we need to build up the callouses on our knees in prayer. Prayer can be work. Exhausting even, but it is a vital part of our lives for those who follow Christ! Even Christ himself prayed! Father in heaven, help us to complain less and pray more! I pray for our leaders today. They have so many things to do, I pray that they will do them well and that you will guide their decisions and votes and even their thoughts, so we can live peaceful, quiet lives in godliness and holiness! Amen!!
Have a great day dear friends!
