Solid foundation

So if I woke up this morning and decided I was a brain surgeon, how many of you would come to me for your brain surgery needs? What? Why not? I mean if I claim to be a brain surgeon then I must be one right? Wrong! So I guess there must be a need for some kind of foundation for me to claim to be something. I can’t just say it? How many of us claim to be the Lord’s people but have no foundation? Luke 6:46-49 talks about those who claim to be the Lord’s people. The first group are those who hear his word and then put it into practice. The other hears his word but then forget what it says. He compares these two with buildings. One building has a solid foundation on solid rock and when it storms the house stands. But the other was just build on top of the ground and when it storms the house is destroyed.
How can we expect to withstand the temptations and hardships of life that most certainly will come to all of us, if we don’t have a solid foundation? How do we do this? Study Gods word, then apply it to our lives. Fellowship with other believers so that we can know each other and help each other with our weaknesses and sins. And finally prayer. The constant communication with our Heavenly Father! Without these essential, foundational practices put into use in our lives we cannot expect to withstand all that life throws at us. We are just claiming to be something we are not. Heavenly Father, we claim to be your children, but so often we give our time to everything else and neglect to do the most import things that you have given us to do that are for our good and your glory!! Help us to start making you our priority instead of ourselves!
Love y’all! Have a good day!
