Just ask

Have you ever put limits on what you ask God for in prayer? Like maybe you would ask for a friend to be cured if an illness but you won’t ask for help getting a job. Just an example. I know I’m guilty of this. I can’t honestly tell you why. It could be pride. We all like to think that we can provide for ourselves don’t we? I’m not bothering God with my stuff. I got this! Or maybe it’s a lack of understanding of God’s power and resources. Both of these are a poor way of thinking. Whatever the reason is for us not asking, we are wrong for not asking!! God wants us to rely on him. To communicate with him. In Luke 11:1-11 Jesus had been praying and after he had finished, his disciples asked him to teach them how to pray. He told them about a man who went to a friend late at night to ask for bread to feed a guest. The friend was already in bed with his children and told him he couldn’t give it to him. Jesus told them that even though they were friends, he wouldn’t get the bread, but because he was bold enough to ask for it, he would go ahead and give it to him.
Sometimes I think we miss out on some good things because we rely some much on our own selves and not enough on our God. If we are bold enough to ask and patient enough to wait, then we will see God do many things in our lives and the lives of others. But first we must be willing to ask. He loves us. If we love him and ask for things that we know are in his will then most certainly we will see him doing things in our lives which should give us cause to praise him and share with others his goodness!! Dear Father, help us to lose our pride and rely on you for everything!! Teach us to recognize your work in our lives and help us to give you the praise you deserve!!!
So often we want to see God. If we rely on him for everything then we can see him in every good thing!!
I pray that today you will be blessed!!
