Who’s your hope?

Hope is an interesting word. Do you hope? If so, what do you hope for? I’m sure someone has done a poll on what people hope for. For most of us I’m guessing, if you were to ask us, the answer to what we hope for has changed over the years. For example, as kids we hoped for something we wanted at Christmas. As we got a little older we hoped to pass our drivers test. Then we hoped to get a job, get married, have healthy kids and such. All good things to hope for right? Most of them can happen if we are wise and patient. But what about when our time runs out here on planet earth? What then? We spend so much time thinking and hoping for the next temporary thing and working to make it happen and often, I believe, we lose sight of the fact that we are not even sure that we will be here tomorrow! Also, we have no power to keep our life going another minute, so what or who are we putting our trust in that gives us all this hope?
For me it is Jesus. I know it sounds weird to put my trust in someone I can’t see, but I do. I haven’t always, but After years of hoping in myself, and that didn’t work out so well, I realized that life is short and I was messing up what little time I had. I was the lord of my life when in truth Jesus was supposed to be. It wasn’t until I put Jesus on the throne of my life instead of me, that I really understood hope. You see, when we are lord of our own lives then our hope is in ourselves and we really have zero power to save our eternal existence, so that is really no hope at all. On the other hand, if we make Jesus the Lord of our lives, who does have the power to change our eternal lives, then we can have true hope. When the world around us is crumbling and life gets so hard, hope is so important. But hope in anyone other than Jesus is no hope at all! 1 Peter 3:15 says: But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
He is my hope. Who is yours? Father, in this world we have many troubles! Thank you for giving us hope in your Son Jesus!!
Love y’all! Have a good day.
