Get to work!

Would you go to a doctor if he only called himself a doctor but had no real training? I hope not. Please don’t!! Would you cut into another person to fix them if you were not equipped with the knowledge to do so? God, when he created us had things in mind for us to do. After we come to believe in Jesus and get saved, training for work begins. Ephesians 4:11-13 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Notice that we are to be equipped for works of service. When Jesus came to earth he didn’t sit idle. He worked. How can we expect the church to grow, individuals to come to faith and mature in Christ, if when we get saved the only thing we do is show up Sunday morning, sit in the seat and listen to the pastor, then go on about our week doing nothing to grow in our faith? We must actively take part in our growth. It doesn’t just happen. We need to study our Bible and ask questions, go to Sunday school, get in a small group and as we grow we need to put what we learn into service. Maybe you might teach a Sunday school class or clean toys at the church nursery or prepare communion and the list goes on. More importantly we will find ourselves sharing Jesus with those who don’t know him yet and praying and building each other up as we go! Brothers and sisters let’s get to work!! Thank you Lord for giving us the apostles, teachers ,pastors, prophets and evangelists to help us grow in our faith. Help us to put our hands and feet to the work of the gospel of Christ!
