Deceitful desires

I was thinking this morning about desires. How easily we are led by them often times only to experience a level of disappointment after our desires have been realized. I believe that desires could be used in a sinister way by dark forces of evil, to distract us from more important matters. Ephesians 4:22-24 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in righteousness and holiness.
Notice in this scripture it says deceitful desires. Remember Adam and Eve. Now looking at the fruit from the tree that God said to them not to eat from, they couldn’t see any reason not to eat it. They desired to taste it. It looked good to eat. That probably thought it would be quite satisfying to eat. They had some help in their decision. The dark force I mentioned earlier. Satan. He said that not only is it good but they would be like God if they ate it! We all know how that turned out! I’m sure at the moment it was delicious, but seconds later the consequences came. Their satisfaction was quite temporary and the pain of life for all of us has been felt every since. When we have desires in this life we really need to keep them where they belong. All of our decisions should be prayed about first to keep us from trouble later on! Lord keep us from being led into sin by our desires and wants. Help our desires to be your desires!!

Enjoy the day! The Lord made it for you!!
