I never liked school. My mind was always outside. When that last bell rang I couldn’t get out of the building fast enough. I remember when the teacher would give us work, and she would step out of the room, I would be drawing pictures of jeeps and trucks or making paper airplanes but as soon as she walked in the room I would be right back to my work making it look like I had been at it the whole time! Is that the way we should go about our work? Only doing our best when the boss is watching but then slacking when they aren’t? Well, that may be okay for some but if you are someone who professes to be a Christ follower then no. Ephesians 6:5-8 talking about slaves obeying their masters, which could translate to workers obey your bosses, tells us not to just obey them when they are watching, but as slaves of Christ we are to do our work from the heart. We are to serve wholehearted as if we were doing it for the Lord himself!
Not doing our best when the boss is out of the room but then doing it when he’s looking is very deceptive. Like me when I was in school!! The Lord deserves our best, and at the end of the day, if we give our best, we will be better off too. I know some days it’s hard to get into work. It’s monotonous at times, but we were made to work and be productive and Jesus served as an example to us who worked as well. We don’t serve a slacker so we shouldn’t be slackers!! Thank you Lord for the work we have. Thank you for our bosses both the good and bad ones! Help us to be workers from the heart giving our best every single day!
Have a blessed day!!
