Want

Want. Oh what a dangerous thing want is! Is it okay to want? Hmmm. Have you ever seen a very young child viciously grab a toy from another child’s hands and run? Why? They wanted. It’s what we do from the youngest age! We want. Toys, money, sex, cars, houses, fame, power, and the list goes on. Have you ever wanted something and it just wouldn’t leave your mind? You can’t even sleep because you can’t stop thinking about it? Yeah me too. We will even talk ourselves into thinking we deserve it. We are entitled to have it. The problem with want, is that we will do whatever it takes to satisfy it. After we have done that, then soon we are dissatisfied and want again! We try to fill our lives up with our wants but it can’t be filled! Nothing satisfies past a few moments. Then we are empty again. Why? That place deep inside of us that desires can only be fully satisfied by something so big that all the things of earth could never fill it. Only God can do it. That place was meant for him and him alone. He put it there when he created us and it is his desire to dwell there. God sent his only son Jesus to take our sin away. Our wants. Our wicked selfish desires. Jesus died and rose again so that we could be forgiven, and be filled with His Spirit. He loves us and wants to be our God! If our wants are controlling all our thoughts then they are our gods, and we will never be truly satisfied, but if we control our wants and desire the one true God, Jesus, then we can be fully filled with true satisfaction!! Thank you Father for all you do. Help us to stop trying to fill our lives up with junk and instead be filled by you!
