Decisions

If you don’t think making a decision is tough, then you haven’t witnessed a man and his wife deciding what to make for dinner or where to go eat when they are out! Am I right? Life is going to bring much weightier decisions to us than what we will eat and where! So how do we make a good, sound decision, especially in the heat of the moment? We can search the Bible and see many Godly people making ungodly choices when the stakes are high and they are emotionally charged up. Samson made some bad choices in anger that cost people their lives. David, the man who God called a ”man after his own heart”, got all hormoned up when he saw a hot naked lady bathing next door. What did he do? He took her for himself and that started a chain reaction of emotionally charged bad decisions! Why do we do this? As humans, we have our flesh, or bodies, and we have our spirit. If we are following God, and listening to His Spirit, we are much more likely to be able to resist what our flesh tells us. Our flesh is that part of us that was born into a sin nature thanks to our ancestor Adam. It’s that voice inside that says “do this right now because it feels good.” It is the loud voice. We should never make a decision with our emotions but rather, we should seek wise counsel, go to God’s word, and pray, pray, pray!! Then we can do what is right, even if it’s hard!!
