There are many people who have left legendary marks on the world. Like Achilles. He was a great warrior. It has been said that he could leap 6 feet in the air and thrust his sword down through a man’s shoulder into his heart and take the head off of two more before his feet hit the ground. His pride though would get the better of him. He was loyal only to himself. He was a warrior for hire. Eventually in a battle he took an arrow through the back of his foot rendering him useless and costing him his life. That’s where the term “Achilles heel” comes from. During his life he was considered immortal but in the end he was remembered for his weakness. We all want to leave our mark and be remembered. Is that really a good thing? There’s a line in a Casting Crowns song that says: I don’t want to leave a legacy. I don’t care if they remember me. Only Jesus. In John 3:30 John the Baptist said:I must become less, he must become greater. He was speaking of Jesus. Jesus created the universe and all that is in it. He came and gave his life to save us from eternal death. He also defeated death and still lives. He is truly immortal. He is the only one worth remembering!! When people look at your life who do they see? You? Or Jesus? Right now in my life I’m afraid they would see me. Like John though, my hope, is that I become less and Jesus becomes more! Dear Father, help us to abandon our prideful desires to be legends. Teach us to be so absorbed by your Son Jesus that when people see us they see Him!!

God bless you all today!
