Out giving the giver!

There’s an episode of “Everybody loves Raymond” where Ray thought his wife Deborah got him a tie for Christmas. So he got her a pretty nice gift thinking he would outdo her gift to him. Long story short, she had gotten him a really nice gift and the joke was on him. It was funny. It also shows just how bad we are at giving! When Jesus was born, an incredible journey began for some wise men from the East. It would take them a very long time to get to where Jesus was and travel in those days was very dangerous and not at all comfortable like it is for us today. Why did they take this journey? Well, we know that they had gifts. These gifts were for a king. The King of kings! This King was just a little boy. What could the wisemen have gained by giving these very expensive gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to a little boy? Did they expect anything in return? I don’t think so. They traveled all that way as an act of worship! The gifts were given out of an overflow of love and respect and thanks to the Messiah. They were not trying to buy their way or gain anything. Sometimes I think when we serve the Lord, we do so with the wrong motive. I know I do! I think we could learn something from these men about giving! Giving and serving with the right attitude of the heart might be dangerous and uncomfortable at times. It’s well worth the journey though! Giving and serving with no expectations , and done with an attitude of pure worship to our Savior, will fill our hearts and be a pleasing thing in our Lord’s eyes!! This Christmas season, let’s not be a Raymond!! Let’s join together and go in a journey to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Messiah!!
Thank you Father for the greatest gift anyone has ever given! You only Son! Jesus!!

Love you people!!
