If you were to measure your faith in Christ, how would you rate yourself? I don’t rate myself very high! I wonder how God sees it? Over the years of reading the Bible I’ve noticed that there are some folks with a faith that measures ridiculous! When Elijah placed his cloak on Elisha for him to come follow him to be a prophet, he did not pause. No list of pros and cons. No let me get back to you. He burned his plow and killed his oxen, fed his crew and left. He left all he knew for the unknown. When Jesus told Peter to “come follow me” he walked away from his boat and followed. There are many more. They all have something in common. They understand that the cost of following God is high, but the cost of not following him is higher. All but one of Jesus’ disciples had their lives taken and not in a nice way. Paul was tortured often and finally martyred. They had ridiculous faith! They didn’t look at this life as their final security. Everything on earth is temporary! God is eternal. Jesus proved this when he rose from the dead! That is the hope that drives the faith of these people. That is the hope we have. Is God asking you to step outside your comfort zone and into the scary unknown to do a task? Jesus did it! It was painful, but the result was our salvation. No pain that comes from following Christ will be wasted! In the end we will have life to the full! What’s holding us back? Let us throw off the chains of comfort and follow the one who set us free!!
Thank you Jesus for your never changing love! Thank you for showing us a better way, and may you find us faithful to all you ask us to do for you!
Love ya friends!
