When my kids were little and they wanted something they would elect one to come and ask me. If I didn’t respond to their liking then they would all come. Often times I would let them do what they asked for because it was good to see them coming together for something in agreement. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, he gave them an example which we now call “the Lord’s Prayer”. He opened his prayer by saying “Our Father”. He didn’t say my Father. I think he was teaching his disciples to come together in prayer. To think and cooperate with each other and to be likeminded. I’m not taking away from the importance of us praying as individuals, but when we come together in agreement with a request to our good Father in Heaven, I think it puts a smile on his face. We put a lot of importance into being individuals and have lost our desire for community, but community is what God’s desire is for us. Even more than community, he wants us to be a family. His family. When one of us is hurting or in trouble or has a problem with sin and we need help, it’s time to call in the “siblings” and go to “Our Father”.
Our Father in Heaven, your name is above every name and worthy to be praised. Teach us to be the family you have always desired us to be. Your family. Your children. Help us to be likeminded and to come to you together with all kinds of requests so that when you answer our prayers , you and you alone will receive the glory!!
Enjoy your day my brothers and sisters!!
