A woman had just lost her husband and he left her with debt and two sons to take care of. She had no way to pay this debt so she went to a prophet named Elisha because she feared that her debtors would take her boys as payment and make them slaves. 2kings4:1-4 tells us that he asked her what she had. She had nothing but a small jar of oil. He told her to ask everyone for empty jars. A bunch of them. Then go home, shut the door and start pouring oil into the empty jars. That little jar of oil filled all of the other ones and after selling them she paid her debt and had enough left to live on.
Have you ever thought I don’t have enough? Enough time, talent, or resources to keep going? Has God prompted you to do something and you just can’t see how you can do it? God is an expert at taking the little that we see and making it more than enough. Remember when he told his disciples to feed the people and there were thousands there. All they could see was a couple fish and a few loaves of bread. Jesus took them, and get this; he gave thanks to his Father, then he broke the bread and divided the fish and fed all the people with it and had a bunch left over!!
I’ve seen him do this in my own life. Like for example, I’ve never seen how he could take someone who has been as sinful as me and have me do work for him who is Holy, Holy, Holy. These posts I write are from him. I just type them. I on my own could never come up with this stuff. He takes this broken down sinner and uses the little I have to do his work for the biggest kingdom in the cosmos! The kingdom of Heaven! If he can do it for me, he will do it for you!
Thank you Lord for your goodness. For seeing what we can’t see. When we see a little, you see more than enough! Help us to trust you! With everything!
