Don’t be lion fodder!!

Lions seldom go into a herd of animals and pick out the strongest one to take on. The lion will hide in the distance watching and waiting for one from the herd to lag behind or get separated from the rest. On their own they are easier targets. Peter used the lion to describe our enemy. In 1 Peter 5:8 he tells us that the enemy prowls around like a lion waiting for someone to devour.
Well that doesn’t sound good!! On our own we are no match for a lion. We often think of Satan as a little horned and tailed creature in a cartoon. He’s way more powerful than that! He hides in places we would never expect and waits for us to lag behind. Like for example, you get up late and decide that you don’t have time for the Bible this morning so you drink coffee and scroll the internet. He’s there! Sunday morning rolls around and it’s been a tough week. I think I’ll stay home. It’s no big deal. He’s there!! That show on television has some pretty racy stuff going on. He’s there! See where I’m going with this? Peter didn’t just give a warning with no way out. In that same passage he tells us to be sober and alert! He tells us to resist him and stand firm because we have a family of believers all around the world going through the same thing or worse!! That’s our herd! We need to stay in the herd! How you may ask? Keep reading the Bible daily even when it’s inconvenient! Don’t miss a chance to have time with your herd! Pray!! Don’t be lion fodder!! What do we have going on in our lives that is more important than what God has planned for us?
Thank you Father for caring enough to warn us of the enemy and giving us a way to resist him!

Stay in the herd today!! Love y’all
