Think before you speak!

What is something that as soon as you are aware of it, you can’t wait to tell? I know there’s a lot of things right? When someone has a baby? Who doesn’t want to announce that to the world? When a friend gets engaged or married? Yep that’s a big one. Those are both good things and they bring joy to whoever is listening. What about bad news? I’ll admit to my shame that on occasion I want to share things that I shouldn’t. We all do if we are honest. We not only want to tell it but we want to hear it too!! Another question. Why are we so eager to tell things that are not beneficial but we are tight lipped about Jesus? It’s like we have this story to tell that’s real and life changing and I mean eternal life changing and we keep it to ourselves!! So what’s going on with us? I’ve been studying about thinking lately and it’s got me to thinking, my thinking isn’t what it should be. I’ve been saved by the shed blood of Jesus and I’m forgiven and I’d rather talk about or hear about people instead of talking or listening about him! We are born with this sinful mindset, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. Jesus didn’t just die to save us but he died to give us life to the full. He gave us his word, the Bible, and the Holy Spirit to give us power to overcome our old thoughts and to build new ones. Build is the word. We have to put the work in. We need to think about what we think about. Then put the things that please God in the place of the old things that don’t. Then we will start changing not only what we say but what we want to hear! It’s exciting stuff! Soon, the only news we will want to share, will be the good things God has done in our lives!! Now that’s worth telling!!
Dear Lord, help us to fill our minds with your good word and change our thinking. Change our hearts to love what you love!

Have a good day! Tell someone you love them!
