Weeds!

When I was I kid, my Dad would drop me off in a beanfield with a weed hook and a water jug. My mission was to walk through the field and find weeds and kill them. Weeds suck all the nutrients away from the soybean plant and choke it down so that it cannot produce beans. It’s just a plant withered down with stress. Fruitless. By taking out the weeds, the plant will flourish and bear much fruit. Weeds! When Adam introduced sin into the world weeds came with it. Sin is like a weed. It will put its roots down right into your roots(heart) and begin to choke you down until you can bear no fruit. Stressed and broke down. King David had a solution similar to my Dad. Psalm 139:23-24 says:Search me God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.
He was asking God to come in and kill the weeds or sin in his heart. If we ask, he is faithful. If we allow him to flesh out the sin in our hearts then we can flourish. Then we will bear much fruit!! Thank you again Lord for your word that is more precious than anything in this world!!
