Nothing but God

Church looks much different here in America than it did in Acts 2 or even other parts of the world today. In places like India or China, Christians are full of joy when they can meet together and just pray and take communion together. They understand the value and importance of being in God’s presence. Reading his word. They hang on every word no matter who’s reading it. They rely on him fully for everything. What if we didn’t have a full band with great sound and lights at church and the leader couldn’t sing in tune. Would we still worship? What if our pastor, who we are blessed to have, fumbled about in his speech as he reads and explains Gods words. Would we still come and listen intently? What if we could no longer meet in our big building with separate rooms for the adults and children and no coffee and donuts. Would we quit meeting? Would the church die there? Friends, I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with these things. They are good things that we here in America are blessed to have. What I’m asking is this. What if we didn’t have them? What if all we had was one page out of the Bible, a worn down shack with a dirt floor, and each other? If we came together there to pray, to take communion together, and whoever was willing to keep reading that same page over and over, wouldn’t God be there with us? Yes!!! He would! Because what God desires is our worship, our fellowship, and devotion to him! All of the other stuff is nice as long as it doesn’t become the focus. If there’s a glitch in the sound system or the song leader makes a mistake or whatever it is that happens, nothing should distract us from what we came to do. Worship the Holy, Living God who didn’t allow anything to distract him on his way to the cross. With pure love he gave his life for us! Doesn’t he deserve our undivided attention?
Lord, we are so blessed to have many things. Help us not to get wrapped up in all of it. Help us to be in awe of you. Help us to be unable to be distracted by anything because of our devotion to you our Savior and Lord!!

Love you friends!
