Have you ever prayed for something and then waited and waited but grew tired of waiting so you just took matters into your own hands? Yeah, me too and it didn’t work out so good! The Israelites waited 400 years to be delivered from slavery. That’s a decent wait. They were patient, or so it seems. God picked Moses to lead them out of Egypt and through a miracle of parting the sea!! So they go through on dry land and are finally free but instead of going right into the land that God promised them, he took them to a mountain where God was going to instruct Moses on how lead them on in. So Moses goes up the mountain and is gone for 40 days. Now these folks that were so patient in waiting 400 years(because they had no choice) grew impatient of waiting for God to instruct Moses, so they decided to make their own god. So instead of getting to go into this beautiful new land they got to spend 40 years in a desert eating manna. If only they would have waited, trusted, and believed.
If we look back on our lives we can see things God has already done for us just like they had seen God part a sea. If we are waiting on God then there is a reason! God knew that the Israelites weren’t ready to go take their land. They had been slaves for hundreds of years! So God had to prepare them for the miraculous things he was about to do for them. Are we any different? We have been held captive by many things. Sin for sure! We have been delivered from that bondage by the miracle work of Jesus coming here to die on a cross and then being raised from the dead. So now we wait for our new home! But while we wait, we are being prepared. Coming out of slavery to sin we are being built up in Christ to do good works he has for us to do. While we wait we must trust and believe and not create gods for ourselves such as money or things which would put us right back in bondage again!! Instead, we must be obedient and look for what God is doing in our lives!
Thank you Father for the hope of our resurrection and for all you are doing in our lives in the waiting!!
Love y’all! Look for Gods work in your life!!
