God’s mercy

Have you ever laid in bed at night and wondered if the sun would rise in the morning? If the earth would stay rotating on just the perfect axis? We don’t usually or ever think about it. We just trust that it will. Have you ever wondered what keeps it there? I personally believe that God himself sustains the earth. I’m sure many would argue but that’s my belief. Imagine with me for a moment if we were God. If we had created this world and all who were in it. Would we be pleased at what we were seeing?would we show mercy and keep the earth going day after day? Would we maybe say; enough! If these people of mine cannot keep from evil then I’ll let the earth tumble!
God doesn’t. He sees us and all we do and say and think and yet he keeps the sun rising and setting right on time. Lamentations 3:22-23 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed for his compassions never fail! They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness!
Maybe we haven’t considered the sun coming up every day as Gods mercy. It is. When we get rain to replenish the earth; Gods mercy. When we get wind to dry out the ground so we can plant; Gods mercy. We don’t deserve it. We can’t earn it. We can’t make any of it happen because we are not God. There are many who believe that God is some hate monger who can’t wait to punish us when we sin. Really? He loves us so much that he gave the life of his own son, Jesus, (John 3:16) so that we can be forgiven. Not only that, but he hasn’t destroyed us or the earth! He keeps it going day after day to display his love and mercy, and with great patience he waits for us to seek forgiveness and turn away from our old ways and believe in Jesus. When you wake each morning and the light begins to show up in the horizon, remember who loves us more than we can comprehend! Dear Father, I’m glad we are not God but only you are! Thank you for giving us all that you do and especially giving us the forgiveness that was bought at the cost of your Son’s life!
