Have you ever started a project and the excitement of doing it began to fade as time went on? Have you ever just left it? Well, if you have your not alone. One of my problems is being easily distracted. I’ll start something and then think of something else more important I should be doing. So then, what I started doesn’t get done! God on the other hand is different. He follows through. He completes what he starts. When I was a new believer in Christ, I would get frustrated with myself. I would work to overcome some of my sinful behaviors only to fall back. I would get so upset with myself that I would just throw in the towel and work on something else. After years of this cycle of ups and downs I came to realize by the grace of God, that I was trying to do it all myself. I cannot overcome by myself! There’s good news here so bear with me. You see, my sins were forgiven. Jesus finished his work that he started when he came to take the burden of our sin to the cross. He said “it is finished “ and so it is! So even though I wrestle with sin, I don’t have to carry the guilt as well. Philippians 1:6 says: Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
God began a work in me years ago when he called me into this family of believers. He is still working to build me up to maturity in Christ. He will not leave this work unfinished!! He won’t leave you either. Are you struggling with guilt? Are you losing the excitement that you had at first? Are the ups and downs of life getting to you? It’s okay my friend! God is not done with you yet! He is still working in you! Set down that old sack of guilt. It doesn’t belong to you anymore! You are forgiven! You are free! Trust in God! He finish’s what he starts!
