Something I’ve noticed in my life and in other’s lives is that we want to be valued. We want to have worth and be loved. In Genesis 29, I read about a man named Laban who had two daughters. Leah, the older one was not so beautiful and then Rachel the younger one was very beautiful. Now a young man named Jacob was looking for a wife and he fell in love with Rachel so he told Laban that he would work for seven years to have Rachel as his wife. So after the seven years, on the honeymoon night, Laban sneaks Leah into Jacob’s bed instead of Rachel! Jacob didn’t love Leah. But God gave her a son. In fact three sons. Jacob worked another seven years and married Rachel. Now you can only imagine the rejection that Leah must have felt knowing that her husband loved her sister and not her. Each time she would have a son she would name him and hope that this time she would finally be loved by her husband but that never happened. Finally when the last son was born she named him Judah and said “this time I will praise the name of the Lord!” She was no longer looking for her worth in her husband because she realized her worth was from God. He loved her and that was enough!
Where are you looking for your value? Your parents or a spouse or your kids? Maybe it’s in your work or accomplishments? If we try to find our worth in anything or anyone other than our creator we will surely be disappointed! Jesus loves us so much he gave his life so that he could be with us. Forever! We do have value and worth. We are truly loved. Jesus is the one who will be there when all else fails! Thank you Lord Jesus for really truly loving us more than we could imagine!!
Have a good day my friends!!
