Change. Scary stuff! I’ve never liked change. When I was a kid, my Dad would give me an overview of what we would be doing the next day. I would mentally prepare myself for it and the next morning; change of plans!! Grrrr! Change isn’t always bad though. In fact there are times when it’s quite good. Like changing underwear for example. That’s good! My Grandma said “always have clean underwear in case you need to go to the hospital. You don’t want them to see you in dirty ones! “
I’ve heard people ask the question: If I get saved and follow Jesus, will I have to change? It’s like they are saying: If I have to change then it’s just not worth it. Look, God created us. Psalm 139:13 says that He formed our inmost being. The part of you that is who you are deep inside? That’s His work. He doesn’t want to change that! When he created Adam and Eve they were perfect. But, then they sinned. They were still Adam and Eve only now a broken down model like a vehicle after a bunch of miles. It needs repair. It needs to be restored back to its original condition. Jesus made us perfect but we became imperfect by the sin in us. So while he does want to restore us by helping us change the direction of our life(the word repent means to change direction) He doesn’t want us to be different than how He created us, but rather brought back to who He created us to be. Yes, this requires us to study His word and to listen to Him. If He is nudging you in your heart to stop doing something or to start doing something your not; then do it. Or don’t do it! But you will still be you! You will just be becoming the restored version of you! It a change that’s worth it! Trust me! No! Trust Jesus.
Thank you Lord for loving us. Your masterpiece! Help us to listen for your voice and then follow you!!
Love you my friends!
