I don’t know what you’re going through right now. Maybe you’re having a peaceful time in your life when all is going well. I do hope so. But maybe you are going through a time of great pain and struggle. We all do. If you are, I want to share a new twist I’ve learned from an old event. Jesus had just fed thousands of people with just a couple loaves of bread and a few fish. It was a big deal. He was tired and needed to pray so he sent his disciples out in a boat with instructions that he would meet them on the other side later. (For the whole story read Mark 6) While rowing across the lake a terrible storm came up. Now these guys were sea men and were no strangers to a good storm but this one was different. They could feel the hands of death gripping them! They were afraid. Jesus comes walking by. On the water!! Does this all sound familiar? Here’s the new twist that I’ve never caught before and I’ve read it a bunch. In verse 48 it says that Jesus wanted to pass by them. What?!!! He saw them struggling against the storm fearing for their lives and he wanted to just pass by?? This doesn’t sound like the loving Jesus I know! Just wait! I’m gonna share something cool here. Remember what Jesus told them? Go ahead and I’ll meet you there. He knew the storm was going to happen. He knew they would make it. Otherwise he wouldn’t have told them to go!! You see, the plan was, they would meet on the other side. The storm, the wind, the waves, their fear, didn’t change the plan! He was still going to be there. So were they, but they got distracted from the plan. They lost their focus on the one in control. He was there with them but they didn’t recognize them because in their minds the storm was the bigger issue! As it turns out, they called out to Him and he jumps into the boat and all ended well. How cool would the story be if they would have trusted Jesus and stuck with the plan?
Another cool thing was, Jesus had seen them before he even went out on the lake!
If you are going through hard times in life, Jesus sees you. Whatever it is your going through cannot and will not change the plan! He is still going to finish what he started! He is still going to meet you on the other side! And when it gets to be too much, cry out to him. He will jump in the boat because he is right beside you all the way!
Thank you Lord for seeing us, walking beside us, and for meeting us on the other side!!
Love ya friends!!
