Walking dead

In all my years I have yet to see a zombie movie. I think I’m in the minority. The walking dead theme has been quite a craze in the world. We all like a good make believe movie but what if the walking dead was real? In Genesis 3 of the Bible is the account of Adam and Eve and the serpent. God had told Adam not to eat from the tree in the middle of the garden because if he did he would die. The serpent tricked Eve into eating it saying that she wouldn’t die. So Adam and Eve did eat it and suddenly they were aware of both good and evil. Although their bodies didn’t die, their soul did. God wasn’t telling them that their bodies would die immediately. He was telling them their spirit would die due to sin and their bodies would eventually. Everyone born since have been born in that condition. The walking dead!!
God didn’t leave us though. Through prophets, judges, priests and his word he has told us all through history about his plan to save us. Jesus was the plan. Through believing in him and trusting that his death, and resurrection is true, and confessing to him we are sinners, we can be given life. Real life! In John 10:10 we learn: The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly!
We get so self absorbed in life. What we want. Me me me! That’s the kind of thinking that got Adam and Eve in trouble. It’s a lonely place living inside of a world that me is all we think about. Jesus has a much better life in mind. One where we live for him and others. One where love and service to others are the focus. And in the end, yes our bodies will die but we get new ones that won’t die and we will be forever in the presence of God!
So, like the walking dead movies, there are two kinds of people in the world. Those who are dead and those who are alive, both walking on the same ground. In real life we don’t round up weapons and blow up the walking dead. We tell them about Jesus and pray they will believe and have life! Real life!! Which one are you?
Father, thank you for your plan to save us through your only son Jesus!! Thank you for life!!
