Life is like the ultimate game of hide and seek. The players are us and God. Do you remember being a little kid and covering your face with your hands and thinking nobody could see you? Yeah that’s us now as adults playing with God. We do all kinds of things in our “private “ life thinking we are not hurting anyone and it’s harmless because it’s ”hidden”. Really? So what do we think? Our God is so powerful we can pray for all kinds of things when we want something but we are so powerful we can hide what we don’t want him to know? David wrote in Psalm 139, that God could see him anywhere he went. There’s no hiding from Him no matter how badly we want to. In verse 4 he tells us that before we speak a word God already knows what we are going to say!! Do we really want a god who doesn’t? Think about it. A god who can’t tell what’s going on is no god at all. We don’t serve a god like that! God sees all things, knows all things and is unlimited in knowledge of even our innermost being. He knows us better than we know ourselves. Honestly, we don’t even know how wicked we are which is why David asked God later in the psalm to search his heart and show him any offensive way that was in him. Why? So that he could change it to please God!! Oh to have the heart of David. Oh to pray a dangerous prayer like that! Dear God, help us to quit playing hide and seek with you. Help us to be like David. Help us to ask for you to search our hearts. Show us our evil thoughts and give us the courage to change. May our ways be pleasing to you our God and Savior!!
