Serve with joy

When I was a kid, it was considered a privilege to help people. I remember taking leaves and mowing for a couple older folks who couldn’t do it any more. No pay. Just being a good neighbor. I don’t know why but it seems like that doesn’t happen like it used to. If you want something done you gotta pay for it. We have become a people who would rather be served than to serve. I’m one of those crazy people that believes that the Bible is Gods word to mankind. I read the Bible often and I’ve never found the idea in there that being served is better! For those who follow Jesus, its important to do as he did. He served. He washed the dirty feet of his followers the night before he was crucified. Not only the ones who loved him but even the one who would betray him!! Would you wash the feet of the one who was about to get you killed? I wouldn’t! Jesus did!! In Galatians 5:13-14 Paul teaches us that we were called to freedom. We are not to use this freedom to do whatever makes us feel good at the moment! We are not to use it to fulfill the desires of our flesh but rather to serve each other humbly in love. The entire law is summed up in one command. Love your neighbor as yourself!
Who is our neighbor? It’s those who share earth with us! If we see a way to help someone in kindness and don’t do it…. It’s sinful. We are called by the Lord to serve. Simple as that! To serve another, even an enemy, is love in its best form!! Jesus gave his life for us so we could be forgiven! The least we can do is be kind to each other!!
Lord, help us to look for those who could use a hand. Help us to serve and to do it with joy!!

Have a blessed day my friends!!
